Brad Pitt’s “abusive” request to Angelina Jolie in the fight for his $500 million winery

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt continue their legal confrontation over control of the Château Miraval winery, valued at $500 million, a dispute that has become even more entrenched recently.

In this sense, Jolie has described as “abusive” Pitt’s demand that she hand over all non-disclosure agreements (NDA) passed with third parties. This is a legal contract between two or more parties that stipulates that certain information that is shared will be kept secret and will not be disclosed.

In view of Pitt’s demands, Jolie’s lawyers argue that the Oscar-winning performer’s request is not only costly and unreasonable, but also represents an invasion of the privacy of the others involved, who would have nothing to do with the dispute over Miraval.

According to the actress, in addition to harming third parties, her ex-husband’s request also seeks to silence her about the accusations of physical abuse that he allegedly committed towards her and her children during a flight in 2016 and that no one reported at the time. Thus, Jolie’s lawyers maintain that this lawsuit is an attempt by Pitt to cover up her “personal misconduct” by extending beyond the reasonable limits of a standard NDA.

Jolie’s legal team further maintains that Pitt’s request to expose these prior agreements is a tactic to discredit her reaction to his NDA proposal, claiming that it was not the first time Jolie had considered such agreements in his career. However, they highlight a fundamental difference: none of those previous agreements proposed by Jolie were intended to hide abuses towards her own family.

Therefore, the arguments presented by Jolie’s legal team emphasize the difference between NDAs commonly used in business and those that Pitt wanted to impose to hide abuses. They argue that the actor’s abuse of power and manipulation should not be protected under the veil of typical legal agreements, drawing a clear distinction between standard confidentiality and Pitt’s attempt to cover up his actions.

Brad Pitt says he is a victim of sales without consent

In addition, the dispute over the sale of Jolie’s stake in the Château Miraval vineyard has come to a head after the actress sold her shares to a subsidiary of the Stoli group, a decision that Pitt has challenged. The actor claims that the sale was unfair and without his consent, which has added fuel to the fire in this legal war that began after Jolie filed for divorce in 2016.

The bitter war has also moved to the courts of California and Luxembourg, with a trial not expected to take place this year. However, the hearing on the NDAs is scheduled for May 16,
