John Lennon wrote hundreds of songs, either with the Beatles or in his solo role. However, the Fab Four leader admitted to getting “lost” while he was writing one of them. The clue in question is “Give Peace a Chance”, a track against the Vietnam War and Lennon’s first single with Plastic Ono Band.

The song was recorded during one of the “bed-ins” (a method of protest that consisted of occupying a hotel room for a week straight) of Lennon and his wife, Yoko Or not, in the city of Montreal. Some time after its creation, the former Beatles referred to “Give Peace a Chance” and said: “I like ‘Give Peace a Chance’ for what it was… I don’t think it was the best song I wrote”.

Next, the British musician and singer-songwriter pointed out that, in his opinion, his mistake was in trying to write from the perspective of the population. “That’s when I got into the political tracks, which I don’t think are the best because I was trying too hard. I was trying to say what people say now and that’s when I lost myself”, he added as recalled by Far Out Magazine.
