Washington DC – Madonnathe iconic Queen of popis once again in the eye of the hurricane, this time facing a complaint filed by three buyers of tickets who accuse her of arriving late to her concerts in the Capital One Arena from Washington DC last December.
The plaintiffs, Elizabeth Halper-Asefi, Mary Conoboy and Nestor Monte Jr., allege that the superstar failed to comply with the scheduled time by beginning his presentations two hours later than announced. According to the lawsuit, obtained by Rolling Stone, fans felt “deceived” and were forced to leave concerts early, thus depriving themselves of enjoying the full show they paid for.
In addition to the delay, the plaintiffs also accuse Madonna of maintaining a “hot and uncomfortable temperature in the venue during her performance” and lip-synching much of her performance, which they consider disrespectful to ticket holders.
The complaint cites previous examples of the singer’s tendency to start her concerts late, noting that this practice has generated complaints from fans over the years, although not all ticket buyers are aware of this history.
The plaintiffs seek damages, as well as any other appropriate relief. One of the plaintiffs is reported to have spent nearly a thousand dollars on ticketswhile the others spent significant amounts to witness the show.
This is not the first time that Madonna has faced complaints about delays in her concerts. Earlier this month, she responded to another similar lawsuit filed by two fans who attended her concert at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center in December of last year. On that occasion, Madonna’s lawyers argued that fans should have known that the concerts could start later than announced due to the artist’s previous history.
Despite explanations provided by Madonna’s legal team, fan outrage on social media reflects widespread frustration caused by delays to the legendary singer’s concerts.
Faced with these accusations, Madonna faces a new legal challenge that could affect her reputation and her relationship with her fans as she continues her tour.
