The Rolling Stones have given the starting signal to their long-awaited “Hackney Diamonds Tour”in which we find two octogenarians leading the legendary band as Mick Jagger and Keith Richardswho have shown in the first concert of the tour that, once again, age is just a number, and that an eighteen-song, two-hour show in front of more than seventy thousand people is something they can calmly face.
The last Sunday, 28th of April, started in the NRG Stadium in Houston the long-awaited new tour by The Rolling Stones, who prepared a repertoire in which the greatest hits achieved in six decades riding the crest of the wave of rock and roll left room for the great songs included in their most recent creation, the applauded ‘Hackney Diamonds’ albumof which “Angry” and the intense “Mess It Up” in the first part of the concert, separated by “Beast of Burden” as a theme chosen by fans, and the delicious “Sweet Sounds of Heaven” In the final stretch, they were as well received as the band’s classics.
The 72,000 attendees received with joy a concert that opened with “Start Me Up” returning to the stage an always energetic Mick Jagger accompanied by the guitars of Keith Richards and Ron Woodwhich also in the initial section recovered a theme like “Out of Time”from the album ‘Aftermath’, of 1966.
It is worth highlighting the work of the rest of the band that accompanies the three legendary members, such as the base formed by Steve Jordan to the battery and Darryl Jones on bass, cementing the sound of a group that was as solid and accurate as it has been throughout its career.
Among the outstanding moments that were experienced, the interpretation of “Little T&A” with Richards at the microphone, which was performed live for the first time in almost a decade, since 2016, in addition to the great scenery that accompanied an anthem like “Sympathy for the Devil”, theme that gave way to infallible downloads like “Gimme Shelter”, “Honky Tonk Women”, “Miss You”, “Paint It Black” and “Jumpin’ Jack Flash”after which the devastating closing would come with the aforementioned “Sweet Sounds of Heaven” and the classic among classics, “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.”
