After the drama over the departure of Jay Weinberg, Slipknot officially confirm that their new permanent drummer is truly outstanding.
Slipknot confirm Eloy Casagrande as drummer
Eloy Casagrandeformer drummer of Gravehas shared his first statement as a new member of Slipknot. Casagrande, who was officially announced as part of the group on Tuesday, April 30, posted a photo of himself wearing the Slipknot mask and attire on social media. In his message, he expressed: “It is an exciting time. Unimaginable until now. There is nothing to lose, there is nothing to gain. Just live. “We are here as one.”
He added a thank you to the group: «Thank you Slipknot for trusting me. Thanks to all the ‘maggots’ and fans around the world. See you on the way. “Here comes more pain.”
Slipknot’s new tour
Slipknot made their first festival appearance in 2024 on Saturday, April 27, as one of the main groups at the festival. Sick New World in Las Vegas, Nevada. This event marked Slipknot’s second performance with Casagrande. Previously, the band had played an intimate concert on Thursday, April 25 at Pappy + Harriet’s in Pioneertown, California.
In both performances, Slipknot opted for a classic style, reviving the red jumpsuits from 1999 and elements of their first masks in their modern versions, in commemoration of the group’s 25th anniversary and giving a hint of what the 2024-2025 tour will be like celebrating that first album.
Casagrande’s joining Slipknot came after his abrupt departure from Grave three months ago, just before rehearsals for the band’s 40th anniversary farewell tour. On February 6, a few days before the first rehearsal, Casagrande informed the band that he was leaving Sepultura to pursue a career in another project.
Casagrande had joined Sepultura 13 years ago, replacing Jean Dolabella. Since then, according to statements by Derrick Green, Sepultura’s singer, Casagrande had “a tremendous impact” on the group since he joined in 2011.
