Paul McCartney’s search for a lifelong fan appears to be over. The story of “Adrienne from Brooklyn”, a follower of hers who declared her love for him 60 years ago, concluded with an unexpected chapter when her family identified her through social networks.

Decades ago, during The Beatles’ first visit to the United States, a young woman named Adrienne professed her love for the musician in a recorded video, where she exclaimed: “Paul McCartney, if you’re listening, I love you with all my heart.” This clip is part of a piece of Beatlemania history, which went unnoticed until the “Hey Jude” singer himself, now 81 years old, rescued it to connect with the past of him and his fans from those years of frenzy.

McCartney recently shared the video clip on social media, accompanied by a response addressed to Adrienne, in hopes of meeting her at his photography exhibition “Paul McCartney Photographs 1963-64: Eyes of the Storm” at the Brooklyn Museum.

“Hello, Adrienne. Listen, I’m Paul. I saw your video,” McCartney said in a reel uploaded to Instagram. “I’m in Brooklyn now. I’m in New York. I finally got here. We have a photography exhibition. Come and check”.

The D’Onofrio Pan family, after seeing this call, recognized the woman as their mother, Adrienne, who unfortunately died in 1992. Through a video on TikTok, they shared their memories and the conviction that she was the young woman who he once expressed his youthful love for the pop icon.

One of the late fan’s sons commented: “I vividly remember him telling me he was skipping school to go see The Beatles.” And he added another anecdote: “I remember her playing her records and I have a vivid memory of one of the album covers on which she had written ‘Adrienne and Paul’ in a heart.”

Paul McCartney’s photography exhibition

Paul McCartney’s new project consists of the exhibition of a series of photographs personally captured by his camera, in the period between December 1963 and February 1964. During this time, The Beatles were experiencing a dizzying rise, going from being a sensation to the United Kingdom to become a global phenomenon.

The images, until now hidden from the public eye, provide an intimate and unique vision of the interior of Beatlemania from the perspective of one of its protagonists, at the moment of his transition to international fame after his unforgettable presentation on “The Ed Sullivan Show” before an audience of 73 million Americans.

“Looking at these photos now, decades after they were taken, I find there is a kind of innocence in them. Everything was new to us at that time. But I like to think that today I wouldn’t take them any other way. “Now they bring back so many stories, a flood of special memories, which is one of the many reasons I love them all, and I know they will always fuel my imagination,” McCartney wrote in a press release.

Along with the photos, video clips and archival materials are exhibited. The musician becomes a silent narrator of the frenetic tour schedule, of the moments of intimacy at concerts, hotels, and between the fervor of fans and the stalking of paparazzi. The exhibition captures and conveys the euphoria and affection of an exceptional “family album,” revealing McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr in times of irreversible change.

The exhibition can be visited at the Brooklyn Museum in New York City until August 18, 2024. (Infobae)
