An accident was reported by the National Army on the afternoon of April 29, when the MI-17 3395 helicopter crashed to the ground near the Guaraperia village, in the municipality of Santa Rosa. Nine soldiers were traveling on the aircraft and all of them died.
“There is nothing to do now, let’s go because this is going to explode,” said the first rescuers who appeared in a video.

They indicated that the helicopter was returning from providing supplies to the troops when the accident occurred. “All search and rescue protocols are activated in the south of Bolívar”the Army indicated in a brief statement.

“Today, with deep sorrow, we mourn the death of the crew of MI-17 EJC3395 and its occupants, in a plane accident that occurred in the municipality of Arenal, in the south of Bolívar. A C-SAR group of rescue teams moved to the scene of the events,” the National Army stated in X’s account.
President Gustavo Petro spoke from his X account about what happened: “I regret the death of the nine members of the army helicopter flight that crashed to the ground and that was supplying troops to the south of Bolívar in operations against the Gulf Clan.”
