DÍAZ-CANEL SENT A MESSAGE OF SOLIDARITY AND SUPPORT FOR SERIOUS FLOODS IN BRAZIL
The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, sent a heartfelt message to his Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, due to the magnitude of the climatological impact in the state of Río Grande del South. «Brother President Lula, we are closely following the serious weather situation in Río Grande do Sul. They have all our solidarity and support. We send condolences to the families, friends of the victims and to your government,” he expressed in x. THEY REQUEST IMMEDIATE RELEASE OF FORMER VICE PRESIDENT JORGE GLASS
Some 80 former presidents, politicians, academics, social activists and artists from several countries signed a letter that is circulating in Caracas, in which they requested the release of former Ecuadorian vice president Jorge Glas, and respect for International Law. The text was signed by former presidents Alberto Fernández (Argentina), Ernesto Samper (Colombia), Evo Morales (Bolivia), Rafael Correa (Ecuador) and José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero (Spain). It was also signed by the executive secretary of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People’s Trade Treaty, Jorge Arreaza, and the Nobel Peace Prize winner from Argentina Adolfo Pérez Esquivel. CHINESE PRESIDENT STARTED A EUROPEAN TOUR IN FRANCE
Chinese President Xi Jinping is in Europe for state visits to France, Serbia and Hungary, focused on promoting cooperation and political trust. The first stop will be Paris, where he is due to meet with his counterpart Emmanuel Macron, to discuss in-depth bilateral relations, as well as international and regional issues of mutual interest. PANAMANIANS WENT TO THE POLLS TO CHOOSE THEIR PRESIDENT
The general elections in Panama were held normally throughout the country. In the elections, in addition to the dispute between eight candidates for the presidency, 81 mayors, 701 township representatives, 20 Parlacen deputies and 11 councilors were elected. More than three million people were called for these general elections and 3,035 electoral centers were set up. (Telesur)
