Beyond the fact that River deflated again in the second half and could have lost against Nacional, football is mixed in the analysis with controversy: the 2-2 draw against Bolso is explained, among other things, for Anderson Daronco’s decision not to expel two footballers from the local team at plugin startup.

Lozano almost seriously injured Aliendro and after that play there was a melee in which number five Romero punched Paulo Díaz. Daronco did not see anything and that is why the VAR called him to review. Even after seeing the images, the Brazilian judge made the decision not to draw any red cards.

Who was in charge of the VAR in Nacional vs. River?

Wagner Rewayalso of Brazilian origin, was in charge of speaking to Daronco from the VAR booth and suggesting that he pay attention to both plays for a possible red card. It was the second time that Reway, 42, was in charge of technology in a Greatest game.

The previous occasion was in 2022, in the first leg of the round of 16 against Vélez in Liniers, a night in which River fell 1-0 with a goal from Lucas Janson from a penalty. In that match, Rodrigo Aliendro had to be replaced at the end due to a terrible elbow from Agustín Mulet that left him dizzy.

Strikingly, the Vélez footballer was not sent off nor was the on-field referee at the time (Raphael Clauss) called. to review it for a possible red card. Last night, Reway did everything possible to convince Daronco, without violating protocol, but to no avail.
