“Taking sides is a moral obligation”

Javier Milei attended this Wednesday at the Kirchner Cultural Center (CCK) the event for the Holocaust Day together with the DAIA and the main leaders of the Jewish community in Argentina. In this context, he reiterated his support for Israel, pointing out that “take sides It is not an option among others, but a moral obligation” and noted: “Denounce Islamic terrorism it is an obligation”.

“Taking sides is not an option among others, but a moral obligation,” said Milei, who considered the Holocaust “the greatest tragedy in the history of humanity.”

The President, as is customary, ratified its alignment with Israel and stressed that while some countries “turn their backs on him”, Argentina will be “by his side, always firm.”

“In times of darkness, when Raising your voice is expensive, “you have the obligation to speak,” said the head of state, at the event held at the cultural center that the Government announced that it will rename Palacio Libertad.

In turn, Milei questioned “anti-Semitism” and “intolerable Islamic fanaticism”and stated that both are “perceived by the free world with discomfort and ambiguous gestures.”

“I look around me at the leadership of the free world, at great nations and I see indifference in some and fear in others to stand on the side of the truth,” Milei complained.

On the other hand, the President recalled that “today in Gaza there are still more than one hundred kidnapped people, of which 8 are Argentinian.”

“When the world is silent we have the obligation to speak, Don’t turn a blind eye. Although it is inconvenient for some, “It is the only way to ensure that the Shoah is not repeated.”emphasized the President, at the event organized by the DAIA and the Holocaust Museum.

And he added: “God is not going to accept justification in his unique judgment, he is not going to judge us for what we believed, but for what we did. Denouncing Islamic terrorism is an obligation“.

His statements come when the President took the conflict in the Gaza Strip as part of his agenda – for which he called a crisis committee and anticipated a return to the country. His Government announced that it intends to declare Hamas as a terrorist organizationeven more so since the attack on October 7, 2023.

In that sense, Milei began his speech at the CCK with references to the reported death of one of the Argentines who was reported to have been kidnapped by Hamas. “To begin, I want to pay tribute to Lior Rudaeff, an Argentine resident in Israel, who was kidnapped and murdered by the terrorist organization Hamas on October 7. I want to extend my sincere condolences to his family and affection claim for the return of his body so that he can be properly fired by them,” he asserted.

“Today more than ever there can be no doubt that the scourge of Islamic terrorism on Israel And regarding the Jewish people, it is not a problem foreign to us Argentines, but rather it affects us directly. First, because 21 Argentines were murdered by Hamas on that tragic day, 20 more Argentines were kidnapped and today, 7 months after the attack, there are at least 8 compatriots for whom we still do not know if they are still among us or if they have passed on to another life,” the President detailed.

Milei and a message to the United States for anti-Semitism

In his questioning of Western world leaders for a certain passivity in the face of an anti-Semitic resurgence, Milei advanced with a current example when addressing the pro-Palestinian protests in the United States.

In that sense, Milei spoke of “blatant antisemitism which has become commonplace in the university campus of educational institutions that are entrusted with the professional and also human training of the elites of the West“.

In addition, the President reviewed a path of convergence in history. “Argentina is a historical friend of the Jewish people. We were the first country in the region to recognize the existence of the State of Israel and today we proudly have the largest Jewish community in Latin America and the tenth largest in the world,” he listed.

And he also recalled: “We have suffered alongside the Jewish community at cowardly attacks by the Iranian government“, not only to the Argentine-Jewish community, but to the entire Argentine people, who due to the insistence of those who seek the truth today, three decades later are beginning to become clearer.”

The president was accompanied at the ceremony by the Minister of Defense, Luis Petriand the general secretary of the Presidency, Karina Milei.
