The Santa Fe teachers accepted “in disagreement” this Wednesday the provincial government’s salary offer. Both Amsafé and Sadop voted in favor of the increase presented last Monday by officials but clarified that their claims will be upheld, although it will not be with direct action measures such as strikes. Earlier, the state unions ATE and UPCN had endorsed the same 18 percent increase in three sections.

From the provincial capital, the general secretary of Sadop Pedro Bayugar assured that the difference between acceptance and rejection in the private teachers’ union was minimal, around 10 percent of the votes.

“This marks the needs of teachers to have a salary that allows them to make ends meet and at the same time, the anger against the government for measures for the installation of an affidavit to record the adhesion to the strike this Thursday,” indicated the Sadop representative.

For his part, the secretary general of Sadop Rosario, Martín Lucerosaid that “the teachers’ decision was very complex because it occurred in the context of fatigue due to the number of months we have been discussing“On the one hand, and because of the anger and helplessness of having to accept a salary offer that left aside the 2023 debt that the province still maintains with the teachers and that leads us to discuss it in court,” Lucero said.

In addition, Lucero questioned that the Minister of Education insists. the methodology of what is wrongly called Affidavit that aims to “intimidate with the pressure of discounts on those who carry out forceful measures even when these are to demand from the national government something that they also requested: the teaching incentive.”

“The adjustment to the workers’ pockets is a fact, but the results are a sign of the will of teachers to continue working to improve working conditions and salaries even when faced with we have a government that is clearly a coalition that ignores rights“said Martín Lucero.

For his part, the Secretary General of Amsafé, Rodrigo Alonsoreported at the end of the provincial assembly of the public teachers union that nearly 28,000 teachers voted, with about 4,000 votes in favor of the offer but “with reservations.”

“We define that we are going to receive this increase but we declare it insufficient. We do so in disagreement and we have resolved to carry forward different actions such as rallies, caravans, petitions to continue demanding that the presenteeism be reversed and the discounting of strike days”, expressed Alonso in dialogue with the media in the city of Santa Fe.

The tightness of the vote was also expressed in the result of the Amsafé union and reported on the disagreement of departments where the rejection of the salary proposal won, as in the Rosario department.

The government of Santa Fe offered an 18% quarterly increase, taking the salaries of March 2024 as the basis for calculation. The proposed increase will be paid in three stages: 9% in April, 5% in May and 4% in June.
