Jadue 24 hours after learning of a precautionary measure against him: “All this is a show by the Prosecutor’s Office, they want a trophy from someone who dared to challenge the model”

“I’m quiet. What’s more, if the scenario of preventive detention occurs, believe me, I have all the strength to face that and many other challenges so that we can continue building a popular project. “I have no problem and I am convinced that all this is a show by the Prosecutor’s Office, because they want to have a trophy for someone who dared to challenge the model.”

With those words, the mayor of Recoleta, Daniel Jadue (PC), referred to the formalization that the Public Ministry made against him in the framework of the popular pharmacies case for the repeated crimes of fraud against the Treasury, in addition to bribery, fraud and unfair administration. After several hearings, this Monday the judge Paulina Moya, of the Third Guarantee Court of Santiago, must resolve the precautionary measure that will weigh on Jadue. The prosecutor of the case, Giovanna Herrerarequested the most serious precautionary measure: preventive detention.

Jadue, who participated in the launch of his book Disputing the past to build the future: Popular Unity, a current project, in the Fury of the Book, he launched harsh criticism of the Prosecutor’s Office. All this, while he was applauded by those present, they waved flags that said “Jadue President 2026” and with the repeated shouts “Daniel, friend, the people are with you.”

“We have a Prosecutor’s Office full of prejudices, but lacking evidence. That was absolutely clear. With a PowerPoint and two photos are not enough in our country to imprison anyone, much less preventive detention,” he asserted.

Along these lines, he acknowledged that he is “very calm,” since “when a Prosecutor’s Office is capable of having to go back on the same formalization, starting by saying that the glucometers expire and that the Municipality of Recoleta is going to have to throw them away, but when They read him the police report that says that the glucometers do not expire, because it seems that in the Prosecutor’s Office there is no one with diabetes, and when the gross lie becomes evident, when he has to say that the radioactive strips cannot be compared because they are from the India, and you go to Google and see them in Falabella, you will be able to understand that the Prosecutor’s Office has been embarrassed and has tried to convince Chile of something that is simply not real.”

In his speech, which lasted about 20 minutes, Jadue He also once again criticized the role of the Public Ministry and also the State Defense Council (CDE). “I never imagined seeing the CDE and the Prosecutor’s Office so irritated because someone had dared to intervene in the market,” he added.

In between, and ironically, he referred to the investigation against the lawyer Luis Hermosilla, who is being investigated for possible payments of bribes to public officials: “Still no one in the Prosecutor’s Office knows where Hermosilla is, they have it hidden. “They are worried that they do not know the exchanges they have with them.” He then stated that “We should ask ourselves if the National Prosecutor’s Office is going to persecute, investigate and lift the banking secrecy of all prosecutors and their families so that they do not triangulate. They are very worried. They are not going to do it because that is what institutions work for.”

Along the same lines, he commented that “when we see the Prosecutor’s Office say that people who have hearing aids in their home and that thanks to that they listen and have been able to recover their lives, saying that this is fraud against the Treasury, the truth is that It is quite doubtful.”

According to Jadue, “the Prosecutor’s Office has had to recognize that there is no evidence that shows “money” diverted into the pockets of this mayor.”

In his presentation he not only spoke about the court case against him, but also gave a political speech in which he criticized the current government and also the ruling parties.

“There are many who believe and continue to propose that the broader social and political unity is what can lead us to the right. I believe that the most important unity is only unity with the people of Chile and that unity is the only battle that only the real left can fight,” said the mayor.

Then he continued: “And that battle is a battle that is unfinished because sometimes, instead of disputing common sense, we spend all day on the networks and we are revolutionaries on social networks and we are not disputing common sense in the social base, organizing the people who are waiting for a leftist, oppositional alternative to this model and who do not end up saying in an almost naive way we must let the institutions work, as if they had forgotten that the institutions work to ensure unequal distribution of the cake between the ruling class and the dominated class. This is how institutions work. Institutions function to imprison the poor and the enemies. The institutions serve to free the millionaires and those who effectively use the State.”

In this context he also said that “lThe far right advances when the real left does not do its job. The extreme right advances when the left disunites”. That is why he called on everyone present: “We must build a popular alternative that truly aims to transform Chile and that does not dedicate itself to negotiating with the right so that they can finish their term.”

Making references to his book, he urged his adherents to be more politically active, even to continue calling for a new Constitution, despite the two constitutional failures and the ruling party’s commitment not to reopen this issue in the short term.

“We are going to have to get up again until we have a new Constitution that makes dignity and social rights a reality. I am ashamed to hear today that there are some political parties concerned about modifying the political system of our country.. They have not been able to resolve in Congress any of the problems that detonated on October 18, but they want to resolve the problems of the political parties, of governance. They have not resolved a single demand of the people of Chile, but they want to solve the problems of politicians,” he exclaimed.

Then he continued with his criticism: “There are some who are thinking of returning to the binomial, so that it is easier to govern, so that we have less diversity in Parliament, so that there is less representation and they want to continue facilitating the task of those who use the State. It is shameful and must be rejected.”

At the end, looking at his present audience, he made his last call. “Comrades and colleagues, the time to cry is over. The time has come to stand up and rebuild a popular alternative that surpasses capitalism,” she said as she was filled with applause.

On Sunday morning, in an interview with the New World Radiothe president of the Communist Party, Lautaro Carmonawarned that “depending on the outcome (of the formalization), it could have a very great impact on the quality of political coexistence in the country.”

In that same instance, he added that “It worries me a lot because it is not about investigating, formalizing on the basis of a crime, as has happened with the mayor of San Ramón, of Vitacura. No, here it is municipal management, the exercise of management, socialized from Recoleta with other municipalities, because the issue is not rooted in management in Recoleta.”
