Havana, June 5 (RHC) Considerable savings in resources and supplies will be brought by the installation, in the Cuban province of Camagüey, of 16 digitizers for X-ray equipment. A process that the specialists of the Provincial Center of Electromedicine carry out from its preparation to its start up.

The new devices facilitate the digital use of this diagnostic route and eliminate the analog version, with more infrastructure difficulties and which also involves the use of chemicals for development, as well as the plates themselves.

One of the protagonists of the necessary change, Rafael Alberto Ramirez, explained that the digitizers use as a base the existing equipment in health centers, to which a device is connected that captures the analog signal and converts it into digital that, through from a WIFI network, transmits the signal to a monitor where specialists can consult the images. “This makes it possible to enable many equipment that does not work today due to the lack of conventional plates in polyclinics and hospitals.”

Digitizers also contribute to improving the quality and agility of the service and make the daily life of doctors and the waiting of patients easier, in addition to saving the country money on a service that is extremely expensive, even for developed countries.
