Havana, June 10 (RHC) The Secretary General of the UN, António Guterres, will arrive today in Jordan for the international Summit organized to promote a coordinated response to the humanitarian emergency in Gaza.

According to the agenda announced here, Guterres will headline the event and hold several bilateral meetings before traveling to Geneva on June 12 to mark the 60th anniversary of the United Nations Trade and Development Organization.

His participation in the meeting in Jordan will coincide with the Secretary General’s efforts to end the conflict in Gaza, while humanitarian organizations describe the situation of civilians as terrible and Israel ignores calls from the international community to cease its offensive, which has already It claimed more than 36 thousand lives.

The event, scheduled for tomorrow, will bring together heads of state and government along with heads of international humanitarian and relief agencies at the initiative of Jordan, Egypt and the UN itself.

With the theme Call to action: Urgent humanitarian aid for Gaza, the Summit will include, among others, the monarch Abdullah II of Jordan and the Egyptian president, Abdel Fatahh El-Sisi.

According to the announcement by the host Royal Household, the purpose of the meeting is to identify ways to strengthen the international community’s response to the humanitarian disaster in the Gaza Strip.
