Avoiding the response about what happened to the doctors who were saving lives in African territory and the lack of transparency in the information provided, increases responsibility for the acts committed.

News agencies have echoed a report issued on Wednesday by the US Military Command in Africa (AFRICOM), on the US military operation in the vicinity of Jilib, Somalia, on February 15, 2024, in which had been stated by some sources that the Cuban doctors Assel Herrera and Landy Rodríguez could have been killed.

“The command completed a review of available information and assessed that the U.S. airstrike conducted on February 15, 2024 did not cause harm to civilians,” AFRICOM concluded, without providing further details or offering any information about our health professionals.

Cuba has requested the United States Government for available information on the incident, without having received a response.

In this regard, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, in his account on “Since April we have been waiting, without a response, for inquiries that Cuba officially requested regarding the Africom attacks in another town in Somalia.”
