The sudden change in the lifestyle of Andrés Sarabia, brother of Laura Sarabia, director of the Administrative Department of the Presidency of the Republic and right-hand man of President Gustavo Petro, has attracted considerable attention from public opinion.

One of the most striking facts that was known is that Sarabia traveled on a private plane to the Karol G concert in Medellín, in December of last year, together with Jaime Augusto Ramírez Cobo, coordinator of legislative affairs in the Presidency, and Andrés Calle, president of the House of Representatives for the Liberal Party.

“We were in Medellín at a party. It’s a plane belonging to a friend who invited us. A matter of friends, nothing about business,” said the congressman when asked about the topic by Semana. He has never revealed the name of the owner of the plane, but the mystery remains. Who will be the owner?

Likewise, doubts were raised about the beginning of the “powerful” relationship between Calle and Laura Sarabia’s brother. As far as is known, everything is based on copies of chats with specific complaints that are circulating on the cell phones of congressmen and advisors without their origin being clearly known.

The complaints specifically involve Jaime Ramírez Cobo, an advisor to the team of the director of the Administrative Department of the Presidency (Dapre) and Laura’s brother, Andrés Sarabia. According to the chats, both work hand in hand taking into account that he (Andrés) does not have a position in the State.

The anonymous complaint detailed that both Ramírez and Sarabia were running an illegal network of public procurement, influence peddling, and bribery of congressmen who helped them go from being ordinary people to new millionaires.

Everything exploded after the publications of Alejandro Villanueva, director of the Desigual media, who took on the task of putting the magnifying glass on Andrés Sarabia, younger brother of the woman with perhaps the most power in the Petro government. But who is this character who changed his life “overnight”?

What is known about Andrés Sarabia

Being the middle son of Octavio Sarabia Cañizares, an Air Force non-commissioned officer, and María del Rosario Torres Sánchez, Andrés Sarabia is 25 years old. He studied at a school in Bogotá and graduated in 2024. Later, in the midst of searching for what to do with his future, he tried to be a pilot in the Air Force, but not everything went very well.

In this way, being only a high school graduate, he ended up on Armando Benedetti’s team, apparently thanks to the influence of his sister, where he started as an assistant. While Laura continues to climb her political career, Andrés ended up on the team of Santiago Osorio, representative of the Green Alliance and the Historical Pact, also as an assistant. Until that moment everything was normal.

Then everything changed

After the scandalous departure of the Petro government due to the Marelbys Meza controversy, the alleged robbery, the tricks and everything that is already known, the brothers Sarabia and Andrés Parra (Laura’s husband), set up their own venture, ALA Consulting SAS

According to the Chamber of Commerce, the company, still active, offers national and international consulting services and was started with a capital of 6 million pesos.

But then time passed and Laura Sarabia returned to work in President Petro’s government as director of Social Prosperity, while Andrés went on to work with Ramírez.

From there, the changes in Andrés Sarabia’s life were completely evident. “From modesty to eccentricity”, with trips to Europe, private plane flights to concerts, meetings with millionaires, expensive acquisitions, etc.

“The links and the direct hiring that is done there have the approval of the Sarabias, from there negotiations are carried out with the congressmen,” say the aforementioned messages from the chats that circulate in the Congress of the Republic.

Now, we have to wait until it is revealed whose plane he traveled to Medellín to Karol G’s concert at the end of last year.
