Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, toured this Wednesday the Artemis municipality of Güira de Melena, where he exchanged with directors and workers of the medium-sized company SURL La Güireña.
Díaz-Canel learned about the increase in productivity, the support they provide to producers and how they obtain the first fruits of the ability to undertake foreign trade, not only to export the products of the municipality, but also of the province.
La Güireña was born from the Agricultural Company of that municipality, in December 2022; Currently, they import imports such as equipment for assembling hearses, tricycles to contribute to the transportation of passengers, engines or engine kits and 10 rice harvesting machines destined for the José Martí Agroindustrial Grain Company, revealed Miguel Abraham Romero, its director. .
A coal processing plant for export will soon be inaugurated, which should bring together the largest number of producers, in order to boost nearby areas such as San Antonio de los Baños, Candelaria, San Cristóbal and Bahía Honda, he added.
The municipality obtained the headquarters of the provincial event for the Day of National Rebellion, due to its results in key sectors such as health (zero infant and maternal mortality) and education (especially in entrance exams and access to Education Superior since its first option), in addition to the productive volumes in agriculture, said Vice Mayor Diamelys Hernández González.

Díaz-Canel also appreciated the health of four hectares of Malanga Xanthosoma on a collective farm of the Ubaldo Díaz Fuentes Credit and Services Cooperative (CCS), whose harvest is scheduled for November.
He learned from Rafael Leal Piñero, president of the CCS, that this productive form is a leader in the cultivation of taro, with tradition and culture, certainty of the importance of having good seed, adequate soil preparation and crop rotation, to obtain high returns.
He noted that after 20 days of continuous rain, these areas are free of grass, thanks to receiving the cultural attention required during their development period.
The Cuban president exchanged with the authorities and main directors of the municipality, and insisted that Güira cannot have a budget deficit.
He stressed that all self-employed workers, MSMEs and local development projects must pay taxes to the State budget.
He also claimed that establishments dedicated to the sale of food, as well as those that provide transportation services, must be inserted into banking, since what do people spend the majority of their salary on if not buying food and transportation.
