After a long time waiting for the second phase of the extension of the Art school of the Principality of Asturias (Esapa) in Aviles, … This Monday the Principality has finally approved an investment for this project for an amount of 7,002,224 euros. The works will allow to group in a single space the higher studies offered by the school (restoration, conservation and design) and that are now divided between the Palacio de Camposagrado and the new building located in the Business Park of the Principality of Asturias (Pepa). This disbursement will raise public investment for educational equipment in progress to a record amount of 80 million.
The Higher School of Art has a lot of roots in Aviles, with more than two decades of existence. He began his career in 2002 at the old Institute of Valliniello and three years later, the design studies moved to the Palacio de Camposagrado, while the other teachings were maintained in the original location until 2019, the year of inauguration of the first phase of the new school. Now, with the second phase, the studies will be unified in a single headquarters.
The extension has an execution period of 20 months and its financing is distributed in three years: 594,110 euros for this year, 4.210.192 in 2026 and 2,197,940 in 2027. The result will be a modern building of a new plant, with 3,298 square meters of surface distributed in three heights. The estimate is that the works can begin this exercise, in the last quarter.
With this investment, the Ministry of Education elevates to 80 million the amount it will mobilize to build new educational equipment. In addition to the School of Art, there is another performance that affects Aviles such as CIFP La Grandiella. In March, the project of the new Integrated Professional Training Center (CIFP) La Grandiella, the other great equipment for the Avilesina region was presented. The work has a base budget of 17 million, an execution period of 22 months and is expected to begin after summer.
