SANTANDER, 23 (EUROPA PRESS)
Santander today celebrates Book day with a set of cultural activities open to citizens, organized with the aim of bringing reading and books at all ages and all neighborhoods.
The mayor, Gema Equal, has participated in the events scheduled for this day in which, for the first time, the six libraries of Cisneros Street have organized various proposals.
The governor has stressed that, on this symbolic date, which recalls the strength of the written word, the City Council of Santander has wanted to promote, with the active collaboration of the six bookstores, a diverse, participatory and thought programming so that each neighbor can live this day as an opportunity to reunite with reading, discover new literary voices or recover the link with their library.
The day began on Monday 21 with a route guided by the Barrio de la Florida, which allowed to tour the literary footprint that permeates its streets and recognize, by José Antonio Sánchez Raba, the importance that this urban environment has for the reader map of the city.
However, the bulk of acts are being held today, with proposals for all audiences and with special attention to families, young readers already who want to know better the municipal library spaces.
The governor has attended the reading scheduled in El Corte Inglés in the morning and subsequently went to the Municipal Library to share a time with the participants of a children’s workshop that intended to start the children in reading and promote from an early age the habit of approaching books as a source of play, discovery and affection, organized by the Municipal Library.
As detailed, one of the axes of this day has been the opening of the new headquarters of the Municipal Library with two guided routes for small groups and designed to show the public internal work spaces, documentary funds and bibliographic tasks that usually remain out of the reach of users.
In parallel, a participatory activity entitled ‘The verse of your life’ has been organized, which has allowed neighbors to record their relationship with poetry by writing its own or foreign verse in canvases installed next to the library.
