Laguna Books, an independent publishing house founded in 2007, makes presence in the 37th edition of Bogotá International Book Fair (Filbo) 2025, That will go until next May 11, in Corferias.
In this literary and cultural encounter, Laguna Books presents new overflow stories that evoke femininity, mysticism and memory, through a constellation of Latin American authors, among which they stand out Juliana Rodríguez, Claudia Amador, Cecilia Vicuña, Margo Glantz Y Nona Fernández.
In total, The publishing house contemplates 16 new works, distributed between its three main collections and the comics, cardumen and many thistle seals. For this edition, Laguna Books tends a bridge between territories and sensibilities, gathering – mostly – female voices from Colombia, Mexico, Chile and Argentina.
They are stories as diverse as vibrant, which are expressed in the form of novels, stories, letters, poems, essays and comics, the folds of everyday life, the magical, the conflict, the intimacy and that subtle force of the existence itself.
Among the titles presented by Laguna Books stand out, Altasangre, from Claudia Amador, winner of the fourth Edition of the National Prize of Narrative Elisa Mújica 2024. The history of this work takes place in the mid -year of a blood hungry family. In the narrative he tells how the matriarch prepares her granddaughter to become the next Carnival Queen.
As well as two of the finalist novels of the Las Yubartas Narrative Award: The deviations, by Juliana Camacho and Budín del Cielo, of Argentina María Luque.
On the one hand, The deviations describes the life of a girl who grows diagnosed with scoliosis in the Bogotá of the 80s. While, Buddine of heaven He tells the days of a retired teacher who understands her life from geometry, looks at the birds nest in her window and receives visits from her former students.
The literary harvest of Laguna Books Filbo 2025
- Hair embroidery, Juliana Rodríguez Pabón. His characters are Chinese princesses, Greek goddesses, spiders, rats, women and a “you”, who could be the reader, being loved, or both.
- Altasangre, Claudia Amador. In this novel, granddaughters and grandmothers are opposed in a game of mirrors in the middle of the Barranquilla Carnival.
- The idea of husband, Laura Steel. A novel about a bitter marriage and an essay on pairings in literature, kitchen and life.
- The Major, Carolina ‘Sanín. In this novel in verse, or in this narrative poem, Sanín enters La Manigua to observe the older of the four children who walked in the Amazon for forty days, between May and June 2023.
- Buddine of heaven, María Luque. Rosa, a retired woman. She was a math teacher and understands her life from geometry.
- The deviations, Juliana Camacho. A curvature is pronounced on the narrator’s back as her childhood crosses in the Bogotá of the 80s and 90s.
- Saña, Margo Gly. It tracks the forms of resentment, inch and rage from Genesis, and draws a tour of the holocaust, the painting of the twentieth century, baroque music, eschatological and pop.
- History of a woman who walked for life with designer shoes Margo Glantz. The protagonist of the novel remembers the set of human and animals, flesh and paper bodies, which have accompanied it.
- Letters never sent and other papers, Cecilia Vicuña. It brings together a collection of letters, papers and notes that portray their years in Bogotá, the environment that surrounded her, and the search for her voice in art and poetry.
- How to remember thirst? Nona Fernández. It is presented as an essay on the debris of time and history.
- Chicorito listens to me, Catalina Murcia moved away. Chicorito listens to me brings together the first eighty strips of a daily practice of the author to register in vignettes the funny, the poetic and the dogs of life.
- The sun is not gold, Santiago Suescún and Fernando Suárez. The story of a young peasant and her pig who after the arrival of dangerous beings must leave their land.
- Pombastic, Silvia Guzmán Bohórquez and Camilo Vieco. They coexist a rebirth that dreams of triumphing as an urban musician, a fashionist cat that does not come out of flea markets and one Simon that is not a bobito.
- Possession, Tania Ganitsky and María Isabel Rueda. We made this book to come into contact with a child who lives our body.
- Oracle, Pedro Lemus. The time and gestures of each day were in charge of polishing each omen as the water to the stone.
- Rivers, fish, floods, several authors. It gathers the reflections and considerations of twenty authors (biologists, artists, architects, researchers) around the water.
