The Culture Area has prepared a varied program and for all audiences on the occasion of the Book Week, one of the most consolidated events of the Alcalaíno cultural calendar and that this year will be held from May 9 to 17, days in which both the Municipal and Capuchin library will become the main scenarios of proposals that combine literary presentations, reading animation, as well as children’s activities and for the rest of the family.
The councilor, Juan Manuel Marchal, values the consolidation of this appointment “as a reflection of Alcalá’s commitment to culture and with the promotion of reading at all ages. We wanted to give prominence to local authors and born or linked to our municipality, while we continue to collaborate closely with libraries and cultural groups”.
One of the strengths of the programming will be the library booths, which will be installed outside Capuchinos and will have the active participation of the Inforpapel and Estrella local bookstores.
The Book Week will have a strong participatory component. Among the scheduled proposals, the “Shared Readings” activity stands out, which consists of guided visits to the library by residents and users of the daytime stay unit of the elderly residence, dynamized by library personnel and will have readings in charge of members of the Pansélinos literary collective. It will be May 12 and 14 at 11:30 am.
From 13 to 16 there will be guided visits theatrical ones to the library for schoolchildren, by Analía Sisamón. While on May 15 the activity “Tales with message: fun learning” will arrive at the Children’s Hall of the Library at 6:30 p.m., by the hand of Israel Serrano, aimed at the family audience.
Several activities have been scheduled for children from 5 to 8: there will be reading animation workshops, with Isabel Toro, of the Children’s Reading Club “Margarita Toral”. At 5:00 p.m. in the Children’s Hall of the Library. On the 13th at 6:30 p.m., Silva will give the reading animation workshop “Cut me a story”.
As for presentations, they start on May 8 with Jaume Nonell and Francisco Toro, who have jointly written “Pep Ventura in Alcalá la Real: Miscellaneous (1913-2024)”. On May 10, it will be the turn of the director of Alcalá la Real Information, Juanjo Montiel, who will announce the work with which he has been awarded in the 53rd edition of the Ignacio Aldecoa Story Prize, “Every Monday of Water”. Antonio Cano will present on the 12th “Urbanism and artificial intelligence is it possible?” The 15th will be with Francisco Javier Illana and his work “Urban oligarchies and family memory in Castilla: Study and edition of genealogical speeches of the Aranda in Alcalá la Real (1548-1623)”. The director of The Objective, Álvaro Nieto, will offer the talk “The role of the press in a democracy” on May 17. For its part, Inés Martín will present “another version of IT” on May 29. All these presentations will take place in Capuchins at 8:00 p.m.
Marchal, which recommends that interested persons who register in the activities that will take place in the children’s room, since the places are limited, encourages the entire population “to enjoy this program that we have prepared with care around the book, so that the passion for reading is infected from one another and seduces new readers.”
