The XXXVIII Jaén Book Fair will be held from May 9 to 18 on Roldan and Marín Street with extensive program for all audiences that will include presentations and signatures of books, batucadas and storytelling, among other activities. On this occasion there will be 24 booths, four more than last year, and the preacher will be the Ubernse writer David Uclés.
In the presentation this Friday, the collaboration between public institutions was revealed to carry out this event with the letters promoted by the Provincial Association of Libraries and stationery of Jaén. The president of this entity, Francisco González; José Ayala, Territorial Delegate of Tourism, Culture and Sports in Jaén of the Junta de Andalucía; María Espejo, Councilor for Culture, Tourism and Parties, Historical Heritage and youth of the City of Jaén; Africa Colomo, deputy of Culture and Sports of the Diputación; and Marta Torres, Vice Chancellor for Culture of the University of Jaén.
The proclamation will be on May 9 at 8:00 p.m. in the presentation room located in the courtyard of the Tourist Dynamization Center ‘Jaén, Paraíso Interior’, which represents one of the main spaces on which this fair will take place together with the so -called UNIA space (an interior room on the ground floor of the building itself) and the booths.
“If you had to put an adjective to the fair it would be ‘Jienense’ because of the 78 authors that are already confirmed, 45 are from here, that is, 58%. Although it is not a closed figure and in the next few days it will increase, ”said Francisco González. David Uclés will join other Jienenses names such as Emilio Lara, Manu Erena, Fanny Rubio or Luis Miguel Sánchez Tostado.
This year, as a novelty, three booths for book signatures will be made available to the authors. «We increased a booth with respect to previous years with the objective that they can be signing two hours, when the usual had been an hour. It is a request that some made to us in the previous edition, and we already launched it as another example of support to those authors who have more difficulty to enter the always difficult national distribution and promotion channels, ”explained the president of the booksellers.
For the preparation of the poster, a contest of ideas has been held between the components of Viñeta 6 in recent months and the author has been the graphic humorist and illustrator Arturo Molero, who will have two spaces to be able to expose his work at the Book Fair.
In addition, children’s and youth literature will be enhanced. Among the authors and activities already confirmed are Nono Granero or the Conchinchina company.
The president of Los Libreros Jienenses expressed his thanks to the Junta de Andalucía, the City Council of Jaén, the Diputación and the University, as well as the sponsoring companies (Caja Rural de Jaén, Blanca Printing and International University of Andalusia) and IFEJA, which again assumes the technical organization.
