La Frontera (El Hierro), May 7 (EFE) .- The teacher and historian Herreño Venancio Acosta has presented his new book “The Virgin of the Kings”, a publication that brings together different aspects related to the descent of the Virgin of the Kings, a tradition that brings together the Herreño people with their patron every four years since 1745.
The work has been edited by the Cabildo de El Hierro, the municipalities of Valverde, La Frontera, El Pinar de El Hierro, the Virgen de los Reyes Foundation and the Editorial Le Canarien Editions, which discloses different aspects related to this four -year tradition such as the meaning and meaning of the “stripes” in the long road of the Virgin or the costumes of the dancers, among others, aspects. .
The Minister of Culture of the Cabildo, Emilio Hernández, has valued that this book collects the details of the descent while the island president, Alpidio Armas, thanked Venancio Acosta his work “for keeping the heritage of El Hierro alive through the publication of his different works”.
The president of the Virgen de los Reyes Foundation, José Manuel Urbina, has considered that Acosta’s work is “thorough, delivered and generous, that lines is composed of line in a delivery that goes far beyond this book” and has commented that the author has donated all copyright for the benefit of the expenses of the descent of the Virgin of the Kings.
Venancio Acosta has pointed out that since the 80s he has dedicated himself to investigating the different aspects related to the Virgin of the Kings, with their festivities and traditions.
