As the television world gears up for the 2025-2026 season, numerous shows have been axed by various networks in order to make room for new content in the fall.
While some series are reaching their concluding seasons, several have been axed, with many coming to an end after just one run. Amazon Prime Video has cancelled a whopping eight shows, CBS has dropped six programs from their lineup, and Peacock is scrapping five.
The subscription streaming platform Max, also known as HBO Max, which is home to hit shows like The White Lotus and The Last of Us, is saying goodbye to three series this year. It comes as 6 shows CBS has canceled ahead of the 2025-2026 TV season have been revealed.READ MORE: Country music legend Willie Nelson, 92, opens up about ‘dying’ as he releases new albumREAD MORE: Prince Harry shares devastating reason he yearns for reconciliation with King Charles
The streaming platform has confirmed that the shows Bookie, The Franchise, and Sex Lives of College Girls will be canceled, and The Righteous Gemstones will be coming to an end after season 4 wraps.
The first show to go was The Franchise, which was canceled in January. The satirical comedy series, created by Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes, who is slated to direct the upcoming four-part Beatles biopic film series, was axed after just one season after it reportedly failed to attract a large enough audience.

While we won’t be moving forward with another season, we look forward to collaborating with all of them in the future.”
In February, the comedy series Bookie starring Sebastian Maniscalco was canceled after just two seasons.
The Sex Lives of College Girls was scrapped after 3 seasons, according to an announcement made in March. The dramedy follows a group of four roommates as they navigate college and relationships. The show was co-created by The Office star Mindy Kaling, stars Reneé Rapp, Pauline Chalamet, Amrit Kaur, and Alyah Chanelle Scott.

The show was not picked up for a fourth season after Mean Girls star Reneé left the show in 2023 to focus on her music career. Rumor has it that the show’s producers are trying to find a new home for the series on Netflix, but no word yet on whether the show will continue on another network.
The televangelist drama starring Danny McBride The Righteous Gemstones will be coming to an end after its fourth season, which began airing in March.
The White Lotus has been renewed for a fourth season, with fans already speculating where the next season will take place and if any of the show’s stars will return. The medical drama The Pitt and the post-apocalyptic series The Last of Us are also returning to Max, and season 3 of the Sex and the City spinoff series And Just Like That premieres on May 29.
