Within the framework of the 49th Book Fair of Buenos Aires, Minister Estela Díaz made the presentation of the fourth edition of the book “They were not told”, which brings together the winning stories of the literary contest that seeks to make visible the stories of and LGTBI+ of our and the Buenos Aires authors.

The presentation was made in the institutional of the province of Buenos Aires and was attended by three of the winners of this fourth edition: Laura Rosso, author of “La Salaberry”, a that tells the story of the participation of women by Adela García Salaberry; Eliana Bertinotti, author of “Cotorras”, a fiction story starring a teenager; and Rocío Risso Fuentes, author of “Green Card”, who recounts her experience the debates for the legalization of abortion in our country narrated as a match. The and writer Sandra Russo was also present, who was part of the jury of this contest.

“From the of the province we recover voices and narratives of Buenos Aires protagonists in life stories, biographies and fictions in a gender key. In addition, we invite illustrators and these books multiplied in samples, podcasts and murals,” said Estela Díaz.

This public policy seeks to reduce inequality gaps that affect women and LGTBI+ in cultural fields, in particular, in literature. In turn, registering and publicizing the stories of women who have left traces in their territories, who were part of social movements or who occupied significant places in the history of our province.

“They were not counted” is part of this commitment: to make visible, recognize and the struggle and life of those who historically were invisible. But also amplify the voices of Buenos Aires writers to inspire and the participation of women in culture. Each story that we share today reaffirms a deep conviction: feminist narratives are essential to build a more just society, with more rights and more equality.
