Chelo Candia takes his “voyeurs” to the Book Fair of Buenos Aires – Libre Antena FM 89.1 MHz

Throughout the weekend, Chelo will participate in different live illustration proposals, along with artists such as Matías de Brasi and Malena Azul Nogués.

The cartoonist, cartoonist and writer Rionegrino Chelo Candia It will be one of the outstanding figures of the 48th Book Fair of Buenos Airesrepresenting al Rionegrino Editorial Fund (FER). Its agenda includes presentations, live illustrations and debates about Patagonian identity.

On May 9 at 17:00 (OCRE ROOM), Marcelo “Chelo” Candia will present his book “Two Mibs” Together with Claudio García, referent of the Fer. Later, at 19:30will make a live illustration in the of Sudous (Blue Pavilion) next to Matías de Brasi.

Sunday 11in the Sala Tulio Halperin Dongghi (19:00), will star in a dedicated to Río Negro with the bassist Malena Azul Nogués and the narrator Claudio Hermosillarecent winner of the Baradero Festival 2025. The activity will culminate with the table “Patagonian narratives”moderated by Santiago Rey (Patagonian Journalism Foundation), where the diversity of voices of the region will be discussed.

“Two voyeurs”: a childish look on pandemic

The book, winner of a FER call in 2024, portrays two brothers who watch their neighborhood from a window isolation. «The eyes were our only tool to communicate; Hence these ‘half internautical’ characters », The Chelo explained, who highlighted the cross between the playful and the social: “It is for childhoods, but with winks”.


The Eternaluta and the Argentine

In dialogue with Marce Pellejero, Candia also reflected on the recent adaptation of “The Eternaluta” and Netflix: «Bruno Stagnaro manages to capture that Argentine of everyday life, although the series has a very Buenos Aires look». Compared the insulation of the cartoon with the pandemic and stressed: «In crises, we join. That is also part of our narrative ».
