Microsoft confesses that programmer’s work is disappearing in his company because of AI

Microsoft has revealed that it currently uses Artificial intelligence (AI) to write between 20% and 30% of the code that drives its software.

During the Llamas Conference, the Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella, shared this while arguing the impact of AI on software with Mark Zuckerberg, Meta CEO.

This remarkable use of AI highlights how technology is revolutionizing code production, although it also raises concerns about the possible relocation of jobs for novice programmers in a highly competitive market.

Microsoft states that AI writes up to 30 % of its software code

In a similar context, Google indicated that 25% of its new code is generated by AI. These percentages suggest that the adoption of AI in large corporations is a growing trend, focusing mainly on repetitive and heavy tasks in data.

Despite these advances, the code generated by AI still requires supervision of senior developers, to avoid possible failures in production environments.

Novella stressed that Microsoft has seen a better performance in the generation of code in Python compared to C ++, which is attributed to the simplest syntax of Python and its dynamic management of errors.

The characteristics of C/C ++, more related to the low -level code, make their automation a challenge. This approach raises doubts about whether the AI participates in critical updates such as the next Windows.

Given these changes, emerging developers can be seen at risk, since the generation of code could limit labor opportunities. However, experts advise programmers to maintain a balance, emphasizing the importance of understanding the foundations and using AI as a tool, without relying on it to ensure a sustainable professional future.
