San Carlos de Bariloche
In 23 Patagonian locations, from the provinces of Neuquén, Río Negro and Chubut, for 4 years there is no network gas service, for new connections. This occurs from Esquel, passing through Bariloche and to the town of San Martín de los Andes, and means among other things that no one can be incorporated into that public service so important and indispensable in an area of severe climate inclement inclement.
Thousands of families from Bariloche have to go to much more expensive and inefficient services, such as firewood or gas in carafe with the danger of that use in precarious homes, which often end up burned as a tragic combination of gas heating systems packaged, firewood or electricity with insecure and overloading facilities.
Because of the refusal to execute a “complementary work” in the mountain range that costs 2% of the total already invested in it, in the area where there is the second largest unconventional gas reserve in the world, it currently has no 15,000 families in the Patagonian region of the Cordillera.
We cannot fail to mention that, given the seriousness of this situation, the governors of the affected provinces signed an agreement to finance the work within their own budgets, in March and July 2024 and failed to comply with that commitment, with the aggravating fact that the governor of our province, one of the most affected, Alberto Weretilneck, refused to sign the document.
