Within the framework of the Police Service model, oriented to people and territories, the Metropolitan Police of Santa Marta, through the Criminal Investigation Section and Police Intelligence in coordination with the Attorney General’s Office, managed to materialize the apprehension by court order of alias “El Viking“ for the aggravated homicide crimes, aggravated qualified theft and manufacture, traffic and carry of firearms or ammates.
The apprehended today would be part of the organized criminal gang, “Los Seven JR”, and would allegedly be linked as a material author of the homicide of the Normando Merchant Jose Diaz, on May 16, 2024, in the Riascos neighborhood of the city of Santa Marta.
The events occurred when the victim, Normando José Díaz, descended from a vehicle accompanied by his wife. At that time, several subjects on board motorcycles intercepted the couple and stripped the wife of their bag; The victim tried to resist theft since moments before they had withdrawn 17 million pesos from a banking entity, this action would have motivated criminals to kill him.
Thanks to the investigations, at that time it was possible to locate and capture four members of this band, which is linked to multiple cases of theft in financial and commercial entities; The detention of aka “El Viking” was pending, who was apprehended in the last hours in the La Lucha Barrio Curinca.
The apprehended was made available to the Prosecutor’s Office First Sectional-Urpa de Santa Marta to respond for the aforementioned crimes.
