
Sex workers organized in the street brigade of support for the woman “Elisa Martinez”, marched during the International Labor Day to demand guaranteed and free access to health systems, effective protection programs against sexually transmitted diseases, stop police harassment and credit opportunities for the purchase of housing, among other demands.

At least about 30 people in the group accompanied by other social and activist organizations departed from the commercial area of La Merced to march to the Zocalo of Mexico City. During the journey, brief pauses were made to listen to testimonies of violence and exploitation by authorities and individuals towards this guild, mainly the requirement of the payment of floor law.

“Sex work is a literal work who weighs him. With sentence 112/2013, sex work was recognized as non -wage in Mexico City. In Yucatan other companions already won it but we want it to be at the federal level,” said Elvira Madrid Romero, president of the street brigade.

Among the most serious and frequent threats they have received, is to denounce the traffic of minors for the purpose of sexual exploitation, one of the most frequent complaints of this group of defense of the rights of the workers. .
