Blanca Panta, mother of Darwin Javier Coveñas Panta31, he arrived at Trujillo from the district of La Unión, Piura, in search of help to find his son, who had been kidnapped in the province of Pataz. Since his disappearance, on April 25, Blanca did not lose hope and cried out for the intervention of the authorities, noting that his son was the main livelihood of his home. Despite its efforts, and after traveling to the mining area, the tragedy hit the mother this Sunday, May 4, when it was confirmed that Darwin had been killed with 12 other colleagues.
The young worker was working at the Pataz mine for three months, and his last communication with his mother occurred on Friday prior to kidnapping. Blanca, visibly affected, expressed his pain and frustration: “I, without my son, I am not leaving,” he said in tears. The anguish of the mother, who could not avoid crying for the loss of her child, reflects the raw reality of workers in the mining areas of the country, where violence remains a constant threat.
