Jerusalem, May 5 (EFE) .- The forum of hostage and missing families, which brings together the relatives of most captives in Gaza, denounced that the extension of military operations in the strip approved last night by the security cabinet puts the hostages “at serious risk” and urged the Israeli government to reach a sane to avoid it.
“The families of the 59 hostages issue a red alert,” relatives say in a statement, in which they warn that “the expansion of military operations puts all hostages at serious risk,” threatens the life of Israeli soldiers and “aggravates the suffering of innumerable Israeli families that already support the weight of this war.”
Families say in the note that “there is no victory without the return of their loved ones, both living and deceased”, referring to the statements of Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamín Netanyahu, that the “primary objective” of the offensive in Gaza is “victory.”
Therefore, relatives urge the government to prioritize captives and reach an agreement with Hamas and remember that 70 % of Israeli “consider the release of hostages as our highest priority.” “This overwhelming public consensus reflects the fundamental values of our nation,” adds the forum.
Last night, Israel’s security cabinet, composed of ministers and security positions and in charge of managing the course of the war, approved expanding military operations in the Gaza Strip and a plan for access to humanitarian aid “if necessary” (it still maintains the total blockade that began on March 2).
The expansion of operations in Gaza goes through occupying more territories in the enclave and forcing the displacement of its population to the south, where however the army has already occupied a good part of the land by seizing the city of Rafah.
According to Israeli Fuentes, the approved plan, which goes with the call to ranks of tens of thousands of reservists, will include “the occupation of the strip and the retention of the territories”, as well as intense attacks against Hamas, thus going through the method of incursions in gaza to the occupation of territories and permanence in them.
The Families Forum denounces for months that the military pressure defended by Netanyahu puts at risk and even ends the life of the hostages, and especially after Israel broke the high fire, during whose first phase they left the 38 captive enclave (33 Israelis and five Thai). EFE
