The Río Negro Government celebrated this weekend the arrival of the second LICUEFACTION SHORT TO THE GOLFO SAN MATÍAS, Within the framework of the investment project promoted by the Consortium Southern Energy.
“Today is a historic day. Two Liquefaction ships were confirmed on our coasts. Río Negro becomes the base from where the Argentine gas that occurs in Vaca Muerta will reach the world,” said the governor Alberto Weretilneck.
With the two ships, the project promoted by Southern Energy – conformed by Pan American Energy, YPF, Pampa Energía, Harbor Energy and Glacear LNG— You can produce six million tons per year of LNGwith a total planned investment of US $ 13,700 million, generating new employment opportunities, development of local suppliers and economic growth throughout the province.
The project already has authorization from the Ministry of Energy of the Nation to export from the rionegrin coast, with a validity of 30 years.
The second ship confirmed this Friday, called “FLNG MKII”will begin operating in 2028, doubling the installed capacity in the province and promoting a strategic LNG production pole in the region.
In addition, the announcement confirms that Southern Energy and Golar LNG signed the final investment decision (FID) and a 20 -year contract to operate in the San Matías Gulf with the ship “Hilli Episeyo”, which will begin producing and exporting liquefied gas from Río Negro in 2027.
In order for gas to reach ships, the announcement also indicated that the construction of a gas pipeline dedicated from Vaca Muerta to the Gulf San Matías to supply both floating units is expected.
