Alfonso André, key figure of Mexican rock, He will arrive in Guadalajara with his solo project this May 11 in the Independence Annexthe presentation promises an intimate and powerful night, where the musician will show a different face than that many know for their work with Caifanes, Jaguares and La Barranca.
“It is always a pleasure to return to Guadalajara, where I feel that there is a lot of connection with me and with my work,” said André in an interview with Millennium, the city, he said, has a special emotional value since his first tours with caifanes.
The concert will be an opportunity to listen to themes of its albums “Cerro del Air” (2011) and “Mar Rojo” (2015), as well as recent simple ones such as “pray”. In addition, the repertoire will include some covers that has prepared for the Tapatío public.
Who accompanies him in this solo project?
Although André leads the project, it is not presented alone, it is supported by a solid band formed by musicians with great experience: Federico Fong on bass, Chema Arreola on battery, Javier Calderón and Lari Ruiz Velasco on guitars.
“We work more and more as a band than as a solo project, even some of the musicians have participated in the composition and arrangements of the most recent themes,” said André.
How has your music evolved from your first album?
André’s solo debut, “Cerro del Aire”, was born as an experimental project with multiple collaborations, over time, the approach changed to a more cohesive and band sound.
-“It was an album with many collaborations, but now each member actively contributes, it is not only mine, it is a collective work,” he explained.
What musical influences define Alfonso as a soloist?
Its sound is strongly influenced by the music of the 70s, an era that, he says, marked his musical formationBands such as the Rolling Stones, Chicago, the Beatles, the Doors, and of course, David Bowie were a source of inspiration for him, André mentioned.

“It’s a challenge, I ventured, then I regretted a little because it is difficult, but I have enjoyed it a lot … as far as possible I try to continue doing everything because everything nourishes me and teaches me new things of me as a musician, they are challenges that I get to and I am learning new things of how to use my voice, I keep taking classes, it is a bit like starting over,” said the artist.
