Nathan Eovaldi has grown into being one of baseball’s most reliable starters and the Rangers righty will mow down the Red Sox, notching at least seven strikeouts at his old Fenway stomping grounds.

The Texas Rangers and Boston Red Sox a three-game set at Fenway Park tonight.

Texas will send former Boston pitcher Nathan Eovaldi to the mound and my Rangers vs. Red Sox predictions are betting on him to have a against his old team.

Here are my best MLB picks for this AL showdown on May 6.

Rangers vs Red Sox

My Rangers vs Red Sox best bet: Nathan Eovaldi 7+ strikeouts (+140 at bet365)

Nathan Eovaldi was a reliable part of the Boston Red Sox rotation for almost five years. His best year came in 2021 he led the majors in FIP (2.79) and finished fourth in voting for the AL Cy Young Award.

Eovaldi has been solid since joining the Texas Rangers in 2023 and he’s currently in the midst of a career-best year. The right-hander has pitched to a 2.11 ERA with an MLB-best 0.77 WHIP through seven starts.

Eovaldi has fanned at least seven batters in five of seven starts this year, including each of his three outings. He’s in the Top 20th percentile in strikeout (28.2%) and the Top 25th in whiff rate (28.6%).

The Red Sox have a productive offense but they don’t always make contact, striking out at the seventh-highest rate in the majors (23.3%) and ranking 28th in whiff rate (27.9%).

Rangers vs Red Sox same-game parlay (SGP)

Nathan Eovaldi 7+ strikeouts

Nathan Eovaldi Under 1.5 walks

Adolis Garcia 1+ hitter strikeouts

I’m backing Eovaldi on his Ks prop and I also like him to go Under 1.5 walks. He has gone below this number in seven of his last eight starts going back to last year.

Eovaldi has the lowest BB/9 rate in the majors and he’s been among the league leaders in that category in four of the last six years. Boston is 12th in walk rate (9.5%) with that number dropping to 4.3% in its last three .

Rangers outfielder Adolis Garcia has struck out 32 times in 34 games this year, fanning at least once in 15 of his last 16 contests. Garcia has struck out four times in 12 career at-bats against tonight’s starter, Lucas Giolito.

After last year due to an elbow injury, Giolito made his debut last Wednesday. He fanned seven batters through the five innings to prove he can still make batters miss.
