The Argentine generator Pampa Energía continues to expand its presence in Chile. This Tuesday he announced that he first exported natural gas to the Biobío region through the Pacific Gas Pipelinethat unites the province of Neuquén with its neighboring country.
According to a statement revealed by the energy giant, andThe gas comes from the Sierra Chata deposit in Vaca Muerta, which is the second unconventional gas reserve in the world. In addition, it produces 5 million cubic meters per day and “it has the necessary resources to supply the current and future industrial demand of the region.”
Currently, Pampa exports 183,000 cubic meters per day (m3/d) in firm condition to the Chilean city while waiting to raise its sales to more than 400,000 m3/d in the remainder of 2025, according to the company to DFSUD.

Impact of the agreement
The Executive Director of Exploration and Production of Pampa Energio hydrocarbons, Horacio Turi, argued that this step not only allows him “To be able to supply the Chilean market, generate currencies and open new commercial opportunities, but also reaffirm our commitment to the development of the country and with the potential of Vaca Muerta.”
This new shipment adds to the million cubic meters that currently exports, through the Gas Pipeline Andes, to the Chilean capital.
Consulted by DFSUD, from Pampa Energía they commented that the impact for biobío corresponds to “A decrease in fuel costs, since the industry will be able to access gas at more competitive prices.”
During the last year, the energy firm worked together with the TNG and GPA carriers to deploy investments to connect its production of the Sierra Cata area. “This allowed evacuating the production of that site through the Pacific Gas Pipeline, which connects the province of Neuquén with the trans -Andean country.”

Export to Brazil
The agreement with Chile is not the first one that Pampa Energía executes in the region, since a week ago it specified its first gas shipment to Brazil through Bolivia.
The Argentine firm reached an agreement with The Brazilian Tradener marketer to export 110,000 cubic meters, thus marking the beginning of a strategy that seeks to consolidate multiple gas exports in the year in the region.
Pampa, which is the third gas producer of the Neuquina basin and the main electricity generator in the country, maintains two natural gas export agreements for 2 million cubic meters per day with Brazilian customers.
