Canadian Basketball is in Good Hands After Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jamal Murray Stat Releases

As the NBA is narrowing down to its final eight teams, it has been an interesting postseason filled with a lot of crazy outcomes so far.

With buzzer-beaters from players like Aaron Gordon and Tyrese Haliburton – and crazy statistical games from Nikola Jokic and Donovan Mitchell – the playoffs are heating up as teams battle for a chance at the Larry O’Brien trophy.

Although the NBA is an American-dominated league, several international stars have made their mark this postseason, including two standout Canadian players.

Statmuse took to X on Wednesday and mentioned that there are two players from Canada that are in the top 15 for points scored so far this postseason – Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jamal Murray.

Nuggets point guard Jamal Murray is currently tied for third in playoff points scored with 181 and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is 15th with 144.

Murray also happens to have more points so far, although he has three more games played.

The two players happen to be facing off against each other in the second round as Gilgeous-Alexander’s Oklahoma City Thunder are taking on Murray’s Denver Nuggets.

Denver has the upper hand so far as a buzzer-beater in Game 1 was the difference in a 121-119 victory for the Nuggets.

With this being said, Gilgeous-Alexander has the better stats on a per-game basis, averaging 28.8 points, 6.0 rebounds and 6.4 assists heading into the players’ Game 2 matchup on Wednesday night.

It seems as if the Thunder are in a must-win scenario as tonight’s game will be their last in Oklahoma City before the matchup heads to Denver for the Nuggets to host Games 2 and 3.
