The fifth edition of the homeless people count in Badalona locates 110 people sleeping on public roads on May 6 to 7, 2025 (62 men, 7 women and 41 who have not been able to identify). Although it rained and this makes the number of visible people in the street can be lower than other nights, this figure highlights the growing trend year after year, since the first count in Badalona was held in 2016, when 39 people were counted sleeping in the street.
To the figure of the 110 people sleeping on the street, the 214 people, 151 men and 63 women, who have spent the night in resources of social entities of the Badalona Sense Llaron (welcome and floors), more than double with respect to the previous counting.

It must also be taken into account that 833 people (346 men and 487 women) are receiving financial support and accompaniment of entities to pay a room. Likewise, 291 people living in inadequate homes (such as settlements) are counted, according to data provided by the City Council (253 men and 38 women). In addition, the Consistory has also reported the figure of 117 people who know that they sleep in the street (93 men, 15 women and nine unidentified people).
From midnight, and until around 2 in the morning of the 7th, 207 volunteers, the largest number of people registered since the count is organized and despite the rain, they toured all the streets and spaces of the city distributed in 17 groups. This year, in addition to members of entities and their volunteers, the students of the Betulia school, users of the different resources and members of associations of neighbors and neighbors have joined.
This year the face -to -face encounter of the volunteer prior to counting in the Masía de Can Banús has been held again, where the last indications have been given before starting. Since the first count in 2016, with 39 people sleeping on the street, the figures have not stopped growing:
- 2016: 39 people on the street
- 2018: 57 people on the street / 172 in resources
- 2021: 48 people on the street / 299 in resources and settlements
- 2023: 90 people on the street / 135 in resources and 237 in inappropriate homes.
- 2025: 110 people on the street / 214 in resources and 291 in inappropriate homes.
This increase is aggravated by factors such as the closure of Can Bofí Vell, the increase in social exclusion and housing access difficulties.
Despite the increase in the city of the number of places in social insertion floors, from 50 places in 2023 to 187 to 2025, provided by social entities, withouthogarism is a phenomenon that requires an approach from public policies with the involvement of administrations.
After five counts in the city, this action is consolidated as a tool for the awareness of citizenship, visibility of the social reality of the people who sleep in the street and also an instrument to explain the work carried out by the Badalona Sense Llarla taula, which returns to the commitment of improving the attention to homeless people and collaborating.
