Sanitas incorporates the former president of Telefónica, José María Álvarez-Palletefor the BUPA group Advisory Committee in Europe and Latin America. It is the second appointment of the Madrid Executive since its departure from the Teleco last January, after its adhesion to the Advisory Council of the Technological Glow Services.
Álvarez-Pallete will not have executive functions within the group, but only advisory and advisory work. This Committee aims to “improve the governance of BUPA activity in countries where it has service and provide independent advice to the company’s businesses in these geographical areas.” Those countries will be: Spain, Chile, Poland, Turkey, Brazil, Mexico, Peru, Paraguay, Ecuador, Dominican Republic, Panama, Guatemala and Colombia.
In this way, the group to which the insurer belongs justifies its signing because the members of said committee “have experience both in the countries that are part of this market unit, and in the various businesses of Bupa ELA, which include, among others, insurance, hospital provision, finance, legal, regulatory, IT and digital, as well as experience in international markets in Europe and Latin America.”
Said agency chairs it Matías Rodríguez-Inciarte (Former Vice President of Banco Santander), who in turn is non -executive president of Sanitas Seguros and External Counselor of the insurer. They are also part of the committee as vowels Manuel Pizarro (former president of Endesa and Ibercaja), who in turn is the external counselor of Sanitas, presides over his risk committee and is a member of his audit commission; Cristina de Parias (Minister of BBVA), who is also the external counselor of Sanitas and member of his Risk Committee; Antonio MartosGlobal Health Director at Minsait; and Iñaki PeraltaCEO of Sanitas.
The insurer created this advisory committee last 2022 in which it was also Nathalie Sophie Picquot. The former director of Twitter Spain and Portugal (now X) was also since 2021 Independent Counselor of Sanitas Seguros. He is currently a directive of the marketing department, brand experience and digital engagement from Banco Santander.
Now, the previous manager of Telefónica, after his controversial departure pushed by the Government, will have in front of the challenge of advising a group with more 60 million customers worldwide, 38 million insured in health and 23 million people who are served in clinics, hospitals and dental centers of BUPA.
This group won 522 million euros in its matrix in Europe and LATAM in 2024, Increasing their figures by 30% compared to the previous year, with income of 6,410 million, 13% more. More than half of the billing comes from outside Spain, being Chile and Poland the other most important countries, with a weight of 18% each.
