At a recent press conference, former Amb Junior weight champion, Kazuto Ioka, announced his revenge against the current champion, Fernando Martínez, who will take place on May 11, 2025 at the OTA-City Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan. This confrontation is especially significant for Ioka, who lost by unanimous decision in its first meeting last July.
“I am happy that the revenge with Martínez has been confirmed and I am full of gratitude with all those involved who helped happen,” Ioka said. “I was preparing me completely for the fight in December, so, of course, it disappointed me a lot when it was canceled. But I accepted the situation. There was nothing more to do.” The Argentine fell ill and was suspended.
Ioka, 36, with an outstanding race that includes world titles in several categories of weight, emphasized the importance of mental and technical preparation for this fight. “Martínez is a very good fighter. After sharing the ring with him, I also felt his technique. To win this time, I will need a heart and an acute mind. I have to fight with technical intelligence,” he said.
Ioka’s motivation is also driven by his training with young talents such as Hayato Tsutsumi, Reito Tsutsumi and Daiya Kira, who will also be on the billboard. “Training next to the youngest generation of fighters gives me great motivation. I really think they are the type of fighters who must become world champions in the future,” he said.
With a message of respect and sportsmanship, Ioka concluded: “I am anxious to see Martínez in the ring again on May 11. We are going to do our best.”
The revenge between Ioka and Martínez promises to be an exciting event, with both boxers determined to demonstrate their ring skills.
