Chile Vamos demands departure from Undersecretary Salas and the suspension of processing of the Fisheries Fractionation Law

This Friday the Minister of Economy, Nicolás Graupublicly recognized that the Undersecretary of Fisheries, Julio Salasdelivered erroneous figures during the discussion of the Mixed Commission of Fisheries Fractionation Law.

It is under that frame, that Chile’s banks go came to demand the immediate exit of Salas. Not only that, they also request that the processing of the Fisheries Fisheries Bill is suspended.

This was transmitted through a letter. “The situation is worrisome and the lack of consistency of the government’s technical teams, in this case since the Undersecretary Salas, fracture the confidence in official statistics, a fundamental issue in the construction of public policies. In this way, the sanction carried out by the National Congress as an organ of democratic and depositary deliberation of popular sovereignty is vitia,” reads the document.

With this, they add: “This dangerous reiteration of errors allows us, as a coalition, to question whether it is simple ineptitude or a twisted way to obtain the approval of initiatives that are fundamental to this government.”

Then, They ask President Gabriel Boric “the immediate removal of the Undersecretary of Fisheries, Julio Salas, and the suspension of the processing of the Fishing Fractionation Law until they have reliable and real figures.”
