In a public statement issued on Tuesday, Christian democracy reported that its national directive agreed to support its president and presidential flag bearer, Alberto Undurraga, in its objective of reconquering the traditional electorate of the Falange: center voters, center -left and independent.
Along the same lines, the DC announced that it will only participate in primaries with parties of democratic socialism and the Regional Green Socialist Front (FRVS), thus excluding a eventual broad primary with all the ruling party. “It will not participate in primaries of all the ruling,” says the text, marking a limit in the party’s electoral alliances strategy.
From the community they ruled out that this decision implies a distancing with its traditional partners. “We reject any interpretation that seeks to relativize the commitment that our Comrade Undurraga has to recover and take care of the relationship with democratic socialism,” says the statement, in which the efforts of the helmsman DC are also appreciated for seeking understandings with the Socialist Party, the PPD and the Radical Party.
Likewise, Christian democracy reiterated its willingness to build a joint parliamentary list with its historical allies and the FRVS, reaffirming its vocation of agreements. “We believe in Chile of the agreements and commit ourselves to it,” concludes the text.
