This decision responds to an outbreak of yellow fever recorded in departments Border of Colombia with Ecuador, as well as the high contagion rates reported in Amazonian regions of Peru, Bolivia and Brazil.
According to the regulations, the vaccination card will be required when addressing any means of transport to Ecuador, either by air, land or maritime.
In addition, the authorities may make additional verifications at the entrance points to the Ecuadorian territory.

This provision not only affects the citizens of the mentioned countries, but also people of any nationality, including Ecuadorians themselves, who have remained more than 10 days in the affected areas before their income.
The yellow fever outbreak in Colombia, which has generated concern in the Ecuadorian authorities, is concentrated in border departments, which increases the risk of propagation towards Ecuador. Likewise, the Amazonian areas of Peru, Bolivia and Brazil have reported a significant increase in cases of this disease, which reinforces the need for preventive measures to avoid its expansion.
Yellow fever is a viral disease transmitted by infected mosquitoes, which can cause serious symptoms and even be deadly in some cases.
Vaccination is considered the most effective measure to prevent its spread. Therefore, Ecuador has decided to adopt this policy as part of its efforts to protect public health and avoid the introduction of new cases in its territory.
