In the intervention, the Colombian president was launched against Congress, warning that If the senators who must discuss the controversial popular consultation vote ‘do not’ will be remembered as “HP slaves.”
“The one who vote does not or does not want these reforms is because it is a slave HP. I have not said any rudeness, an eye. HP, honorable parliamentary, journalist or politician … Honorable politician, but he is honorable slave person,” said the head of state.
In addition to this, he launched a strong warning to the legislative on the process of the popular consultation: “Each proper name voting against the rights of the people must be shown and naked before their own people. Let’s see if, developed this popular movement, they will continue in the Congress of the Republic. They are not going to follow. “
“If they believe that at midnight they will vote to say no to the consultation, the people of Colombia get up and revoke them. The people get up and revoke them, and do not believe that it is as they think, they believe that we are going to enter and we will get to force them, it is not so. We are respectful of human dignity, but we are not assholes,” he said.
The Head of State added: “The senator and the representative to the Chamber have to speak in front of the people, so I want them here speaking between this demonstration. If in a Senate session at midnight they will vote to say no to the consultation, the people of Colombia get up and revoke them ”.
“Efraín Cepeda said, then: hear, but those are the questions you presented, because now we can discuss them in Congress,” he said. On that occasion he said: “I do not say rudeness, but I meant one: HPP”.
In the speech of this May 1, Petro also mentioned the thorny issue of re -election: he indicated that it would be a torture to be president again, pointing out that there are ghosts in Nariño’s house.
“I want us to make this pact between the president of Colombia and the people of Colombia: today, The president is not asking to vote for him. I do not even like to re -elect, how they will put me in the torture of going to that house again, with cold rooms, full of ghosts of all the sins that have passed there. I don’t want that torture, ”he said.
He added: “Power is not for me, I have already won and fill many places in Bolívar and won everything that had to be gained through vote.
