Air transport in Colombia not only continued to grow at the close of the first quarter of the year, as revealed by the most recent figures of civil aeronautics (Aerocivil), but in that period it reached record results.
Between January and March 2025, more than 13.8 million passengers blown nationally and internationally by plane by the country’s terminals, that is, 3.5 % more of those registered in the same period of 2024.

Of that total, 43.2 % were travelers from other countries, while 56.8 % corresponded to those who flew in household journeys.
“This figure makes the first quarter of 2025 the period of greatest volume recorded in the last six years, overcoming even 42.8 % that of the first quarter of 2019”, Said Paula Cortés Calle, executive president of the national Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (Anato).
The above, he added, makes it “important to see connectivity, not only as a transport, but also as a transformation tool for the different sectors of the economy.”

Main destinations of passengers mobilized by air
Bogotá airport concentrated the largest volume of national and international traffic in the first quarter of 2025, with a 40.7 % participation of the total passengers.
Recommended: Mobilization of air passengers in Colombia grew 4.3 % in the first two months of 2025
This was followed by Medellín, with 14.7 %; Cartagena, with 8.8 %; Cali, with 7.1 %; Santa Marta, with 4.6 %; and Barranquilla’s with 3.7 % of passengers.
In the face of international air connectivity, 26 % of the total passengers corresponded to routes between Colombia and the United States; followed by 8.5% with Spain; 7.9% with Mexico; 6.9 %, with Peru; 6.5 %, with Panama; and 5.6 %, with Ecuador.
“We have advanced a lot, but there are still regions that need to be better connected to integrate to this growth in Colombia and that are not isolated, but The country also needs to strengthen its connectivity with other countries, we must invest in routes and alliances with airlines that want to bet on our territory, ”concluded the union leader.
