The apparent imprudence of a pedestrian triggered the tragic death of a young 18 -year -old student in Vía Las Palmas. In another unfortunate event, a habitual shock of soccer play in Manrique San Blas claimed the lives of a child under 13. Two fatal accidents that occurred in the last two days truncated the dreams of two young people who barely began to live.
For their family, friends and acquaintances, their deaths meant the loss of two charismatic people, full of life and with a promising future: she, with the desire to complete their university studies; He, with the illusion of becoming a professional footballer.
The death of Salomé Vargas Arango, 18, was recorded on Thursday night in race 9 with 11 South Street, on Vía Las Palmas, at the height of the viewpoint the gamín, after a staircase bus stopped and one of its passengers went abruptly and tried to cross the road.
According to the information of the authorities, the passerby descended from the vehicle and when he crossed caused the occupants of a motorcycle to destabilize and lose control, causing it to crash against the separator of this road, in its decline road.
This caused Salome to remain on the opposite road, with multiple fractures and injuries that caused him to be transferred to the General Hospital of Medellín, where he received attention for several hours, but on behalf of the trauma, mainly in the head, he died.

The motorcycle driver, a BMW GS300, a 28 -year -old, was transferred to the El Rosario Clinic, Headquarters El Treasure, where at the end of the edition he remained in ICU, in critical condition on behalf of the blows to the head caused by this collision.
For its part, the passerby that came down from the vehicle, indicated to cause this sinister, suffered minor effects and after an assessment was discharged.
The relatives described Salomé as “a young worker and dedicated, known for her charisma, joy and desires for overcoming.” They highlighted their efforts to fulfill their dreams, since he worked in a nail spa in Sabaneta, a municipality where he lived, in addition to being studying a university career.
“Her death has generated a deep sadness among those who knew her and aroused the citizen clamor for greater control in a road that has become, sadly, into a recurring stage of recklessness,” said an relative, taking into account that the Las Palmas route is one of the most accidents in Medellín.
It should be noted that Salome is the fourth person who died this year on Vía Las Palmas, in a corridor that until April 30 had accounted for 86 accidents, 28% more than in 2024. In these cases, in addition, there were 67 injured.
During a meeting of the U17 championship of the Antioquia Football League that was played on the San Blas neighborhood court, in commune 3 (Manrique), a clash of two of the teenage players caused one of them to die minutes later at the San Vicente Foundation Hospital in Medellín.
“The boy crashed with another in the game, the two fell to the ground but that of us did not rise again. Then they took him to a health center; however, on the road he died,” a relative told the Soccer City team, from the Castilla neighborhood, a club in which Matías Ramírez Vargas, 13 years old, the victim of this fact.
From the club they indicated that the player received all the attention, according to the established protocols, and received first aid to see that he did not react. After this, they initially led him to a nearby health center, but seeing that his health status was critical, they made the determination to take him to the hospital with greater complexity where he died.

Given this fact, from the Formative Soccer Club after this death that “from the family of Soccer City we extend our most sincere condolences to the Ramírez Vargas family and all their loved ones. We join in prayer, solidarity and respect in this time so painful. We will remember their joy, passion and commitment within our Soccer City family”.
Likewise, from the Antioquio Soccer League they lamented the death and in the next days of the tournaments organized by this entity, a minute of silence will be made and a black ribbon will be shown in Matías’ memory.
“We want to express our deep feeling and the most felt condolences to the family, to the Soccer City Club, its president, already Matías’ companions,” said Juan Federico Upegui, president of the League.
In addition to the duel, also from the Antioquia League they made the determination that as of today, the teams participating in their tournaments and categories must present, outside the previous form of each game, a list of insured players and the respective policy.
