During the last days, the National government has announced a series of measures in the midst of the wave of violence by illegal groups that are lived in several areas of the country, such as the so -called Pistol Plan, mainly operated by the Gulf clan against police and military, and the armed strike in the Chocó announced by the ELN.

‘Peace Zone’ in the Catatumbo

Plan against the Gulf Clan
In the last two weeks, as part of the so -called Pistol Plan, they have killed at least 27 uniformed, 19 police and eight members of the military forces, in different regions of the country such as Antioquia, Córdoba, Bolívar, Sucre, Arauca and Norte de Santander. The National Government attributes these attacks on the Gulf clan.
Given this critical situation, the authorities have reinforced the presence of the public force in these areas, with the aim of containing the wave of murders against the uniformed. However, despite the measures adopted by the Ministry of Defense and the deployment of Operation Agamemnon against the Gulf Clan, harassment against the public force continue without truce.
