The incident occurred outside the ICBF Zonal Center in that town, where parents and citizens gathered to express their rejection after the complaint related to the headquarters of the Canada Children’s Home, operated by a contractor association.
During the demonstration, which was convened as a symbolic action in defense of minors, a situation of violence was presented that left an injured worker.
Cáceres confirmed the situation through his X (previously Twitter) account and reported that the injured employee remains under medical observation. “We repudiate the aggression that some of the protesters have made to one of our officials in the San Cristóbal Zonal Center. He is hospitalized,” the director wrote.
In her pronouncement, the official called to recognize the commitment of ICBF personnel with childhood attention and rejected that violent acts fall on those who fulfill protection work. “We reiterate that we are not the aggressors, that on the contrary every day the teams do their best to save lives in many corners of the country,” he said.
-Cáceres also denied versions that linked the attacker with the state entity. In its publication, it made it clear that the person responsible for the violent fact is not part of the ICBF staff: “The aggressor is not an @icbfcolombia official and the press confuses and badly informs. Violence should not be the flag. On the contrary, we open the way to justice. Inadmissible to add more violence where it is not and all solidarity with his family”.
While the protest day was developed, the authorities gave advances on research related to the alleged abuse of minors in the aforementioned kindergarten.
According to the judicial authorities, in coordination with the Sijin of the Metropolitan Police of Bogotá, the capture of the alleged sexual aggressor was achieved.
The entity explained that the captured person will be taken before a guarantee control judge, where he will be charged with the crimes of abusive sexual act and abusive carnal access with under 14 years, among other positions, based on the evidence collected during the investigative process.
In response to this judicial action, the director of the ICBF reiterated the importance of acting before each alert signal. “We prefer to report it. We do not come to defend the institution, we come to defend the childhood of mentally ill adults,” he said in his social network.
The case has generated multiple reactions both in the capital and at the national level, being an environment for children’s protection, and keeps several investigations ongoing responsibilities and preventing similar facts.
