
The MABS Foundation organized Sunday a solidarity walk in order to raise funds to help cancer patients. A 4 -kilometer journey with departure and arrival on the beach of Racó de L’Abir, passing through the port of Altea. Yesterday, more than 600 euros were collected, to which those that are obtained with the raffle, which are still active. All this money will go to the programs for helping cancer patients that have MABS.
The Councilor for International Residents of L’Alfàs, Martine Mertens, participated in this solidarity initiative organized by the MABS Foundation, an organization that has been supporting patients with cancer since 1999 and their relatives, accompanying them in the process. Patients of all nationalities residing in the regions of the Costa Blanca and the Costa Valida. To do this, they raise funds through a network of second -hand stores in which they sell furniture, clothing and all kinds of objects always for beneficial purposes. These stores, 5 in total distributed between L’Alfàs del Pi, Jávea, Oliva, San Javier and Totana, are treated by volunteers.
The money collected is destined for different programs with which it is intended to improve the day -to -day life of cancer patients and their families, from facilitating means of transport to take them to the treatment for rent of sanitary equipment, such as wheelchairs and hospital beds, or give them help at home. In 2024, MABS allocated 380,000 euros to help 525 cancer patients.
Currently, 335 volunteers dedicate their time altruistic in MABS, either in stores, in administrative tasks or in the organization of beneficial events. Thanks to the funds raised through the sale of items donated in their stores, MABS can offer these services.
Anyone who wants to collaborate with Mabs Costa Blanca can approach the premises they have on Valencià’s Avenue and know firsthand the work they do. The L’Alfàs del Pi store opens from Monday to Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
