The local deputy of Morena Valentina Batres proposed to increase the minimum age in the matter of 12 to 15 years Sexual consent In Mexico City.
He explained that this proposal seeks to safeguard integral development and Psychosexual health of adolescent people.
The initiative seeks to reform the local Criminal Code in order to raise the minimum age of sexual consent in the Crimes of stupro and incest, incorporating as a governing parameter the best interest of minor persons, enshrined in article 4 of our Political Constitution.

In the words of the legislator, “once the minimum legal age for sexual consent is reached, adolescents have the right to maintain free sexual relations and healthy with the person of your choice. Consequently, the sexual relationship under these conditions is legally allowed and does not constitute any crime. ”

In that sense, for Batres it is essential to reform the local Criminal Code, so that the State effectively protects adolescents, to prevent them from being victims of the commission of crimes that threaten the free development of their sexual health. In addition, it would be harmonized with the provisions of article 262 of the Federal Criminal Code and with international parameters.
The project was turned to the Commission of Administration and Procuration of Justice for its study and opinion.
